The First Step was my first major 2D Digital Animation project that was to be used as a trailer to promote a product for someone else...Naturally I was excited (and slightly nervous) about this project but I welcomed the challenge and decided to accept this project...also because the message of the book itself is something that is personal to me....this project really was a blessing to be involved in.

The beginning of this project was mainly focused on the brief and requirements of the animation itself... This led me to gather certain information necessary to the planning through various conversations via Email with both Baljinder Kaur and Mighty Khalsa. It was important for me to keep both parties within the loop and constantly update the project through feedback received throughout the entire process..

INITIAL BRIEF

The brief eventually began to take form as we had established that running time needed to be no longer than 1 and a half minutes. The target audience was established as young children and parents so it had to have an appeal to that particular demographic, this provided a good starting point in terms of references and research (Always good to watch a few kids cartoons). I had to also confirm whether sound and visual assets were to be provided and if so, whether they needed further editing. The project also had to be informative so it needed to allot time to display logos, websites and credits without being too intrusive. This was also the opportune moment to consider which tools would be the most effective to create this animation and to test workflows.
